Second fire at Johnston waste disposal plant in less than a month

Just weeks after a fire in a storage unit at a waste disposal plant in Johnston a piece of equipment at the same plant caught fire.

Shortly before 10 a.m. on Sunday a mechanical lift at Patriot Disposal on Shun Pike caught fire. The fire seemed to be caused by a diesel engine.

No one was injured during the fire. On July 2 a storage unit at the facility also caught fire and was a total loss.
