Seekonk man arrested after traffic stop scuffle

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A Seekonk man was arrested Wednesday on drug charges after fighting with officers during a traffic stop.

East Providence Police conducted a motor vehicle stop on the East Shore Expressway Wednesday.

After acting suspiciously during the traffic stop, one of the vehicle’s four occupants, identified as 41-year-old Jeffrey Aubin, of Seekonk, became combative and attempted to attack and flee from East Providence Police officers on scene.

One officer deployed his taser and incapacitate Aubin. Police located approximately 11 grams of suspected methamphetamine on his person.

Aubin was taken into custody on a Superior Court Bench Warrant. He also faces the following charges:

  • Possession of Schedule I-V Controlled Substance
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Obstruction

A passenger in Aubin’s vehicle, identified as 35-year-old Christian A. Garcia, was also arrested for a Superior Court Bench Warrant.
