Seekonk police, Autism Eats host dinner event for families

SEEKONK, Mass. (WLNE) – Seekonk Police joined the non-profit Autism Eats to offer a sit-down meal for children with autism and their families.

Officer Kevin Nagle put the event together, telling ABC6 his intention is to showcase the department’s involvement in the community.

“In the year 2021, police officers understand that we’re doing more than just taking bad guys to jail,” Officer Nagle said. “We’re helping out with mental health calls, we’re helping out in schools.”

This was the first event for Autism Eats since the start of the pandemic, and it featured a very special guest: Wally the Green Monster.

“It’s great to have so much support from the community,” said Officer Nagle.

Around 100 people came out to the event.
