Senate Republicans Block Emergency Jobless Benefits, Cite Deficit

Republican Senators have blocked a measure that would have funded unemployment benefits.

The GOP says the bill would have added billions to the nation's 13 trillion dollar deficit.

Emergency jobless benefits expired early this month. Democrats have been working for 2 months to extend the benefits, Republicans say the measure costs too much.  They'll go back to the drawing board after the 4th of July break.

While they wait, 2 million more unemployed workers will lose their benefits.
