Senior advisor to Gov. Raimondo resigns following DUI arrest

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE)- A senior advisor to Gov. Gina Raimondo has resigned following a drunk driving arrest in Narragansett.

Narragansett police charged 44-year-old Daniel Connors with driving under the influence Wednesday night, according to court documents.

Raimondo acknowledged the arrest during a press conference Friday, saying Connors had resigned the day before.

“He was pulled over for drunk driving, and conducted himself in a manner that was inconsistent with the values of my administration,” Raimondo said.

Connors had formerly served as the Senate majority leader. The Cumberland Democrat had first been elected to the state legislature in 1996, when he was 20-years-old.
