WOONSOCKET, R.I. – Three people have been taken to Rhode Island Hospital after a serious car crash on Manville Road, Monday evening.

Crews responded to the scene around 6: 45 p.m.

“It’s not good,” said one officer on scene.

Authorities say the driver of the smaller car, an unidentified middle-aged man, was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital with life-threatening injuries; an officer stating they found the driver passed out behind the wheel when they arrived.

The driver of the truck was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, while the female passenger was taken to Landmark Medical Center. Both were reported to have minor injuries.

Police are advising the public to avoid the area until the scene can be cleared.

Crews are spreading cat litter to absorb fluids on the street on scene.

Police say they believe speed was definitely a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
