Services scheduled for Jim Skeffington

Services have been scheduled for Pawtucket Red Sox owner, James Skeffington, following his sudden death on Sunday night.

The wake will be held on Friday, May 22nd, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Providence. The funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, May 23rd, at 10 a.m., also at the Cathedral.

The 73-year-old passed away on May 17th while jogging in Barrington.

Skeffington was an attorney at Locke & Lord LLP where he helped lead the way in the development of places such as the Rhode Island Convention Center, the Providence Westin Hotel, and the Providence Place Mall.

He was also a member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce and the Board of Trustees at both Bryant University and Providence College.

Most recently, he was a key figure in the effort to bring the PawSox to Providence and put them in a proposed $85 million stadium on the 195 redevelopment land.
