Several beaches closed to swimming in Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Health recommended closing several beaches due to high bacteria levels.

The closed beaches are:

  • Third Beach in Middletown
  • Sandy Point Beach in Portsmouth
  • Burlingame State Park Picnic Area and Campground in Charlestown

Officials said they will continue to monitor the bacteria levels and water quality through Labor Day.
