Several Veterans Day events being held across Southern New England

BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — Several events will be held across Southern New England Friday, saluting active-duty military members and veterans.

In North Kingstown, a wreath laying ceremony will take place at 9 a.m., which can be viewed along West Maine and Brown streets through Wickford Village to Boston Neck Road.

Gov. Dan McKee will also host the state’s Veteran Day ceremony at 2 p.m. at the Rhode Island Veterans Home on Metacom Avenue in Bristol.

The governor will be joined by the state’s Director of Veterans Services, Kasim Yarn, members of Rhode Island’s Congressional delegation, general officers, and other dignitaries.

In Massachusetts, the city of New Bedford will hold a parade at 11 a.m., which will form at the intersection of Rockdale Avenue and union Street, in Buttonwood Park.

Swansea will also have a traditional wreath placing and a demonstration by the Color Guard beginning at 10 a.m.
