Severe Weather Potential Sunday
A Flood Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for all of Rhode Island, except Block Island, and Bristol County Massachusetts from 2am Sunday through 2am Monday. We have a very warm and humid airmass in place and into this we will bring a cold front. These elements will combine to give us areas of heavy showers, but also the potential for severe weather. Severe weather includes the chance of damaging gusty winds, downpours and frequent lightning. The locally heavy rainfall will be coming down on already saturated ground and swollen rivers and streams, that’s why the flood warning has been issued. Showers and the chance of thunderstorms continues through the day and will end in Southern New England early Monday, otherwise, look for a mostly sunny Monday. Tuesday will be mainly dry other than a chance of a pop up afternoon shower possible. Wednesday looks to be the winner of the week with lots of sunshine and lower dew points. We finish the week with a mix of sun and clouds and the slight chance of showers both Thursday and Friday.
