Sex offender arrested for failing to register himself in Coventry

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) — Coventry police said Wednesday that a man who failed to register himself as a sex offender was arrested Tuesday.
Police said during the months of July and August of this year, their Special Victims Unit began an investigation into the whereabouts of Michael Palangio, 55, of Coventry.
Authorities said Palangio is a registered level one sex offender who was in violation of his duty to register as a sex offender with the town.
Palangio was taken to Kent County Court after his arrest where he was arraigned and released on $5,000 personal recognizance.
Court documents obtained by ABC 6 News detail the charges against Palangio, which include possession of child pornography and transport or delivery of child pornography which were filed back in 2018.
He is scheduled to return to court for a screening on Oct. 2.
