The off-duty Sheriff’s Deputy who shot and killed the man responsible for that stabbing rampage at the Silver City Galleria in Taunton last May has named his new K-9 after one of the victims.

Plymouth County Sheriff’s Lieutenant James Creed was in need of a new K-9 when he returned to work, and when he got one, he asked George Heath’s widow, Rosemary if he could name the dog after her husband.

Heath saved his wife and a pregnant waitress when a wild-man with a knife barged into Bertucci’s at the Silver City Galleria in Taunton.

His widow Rosemary recently accepted the ‘Madeline Amy Sweeney Award’ in September on his behalf, an award given to civilians who demonstrate remarkable bravery.
