Shooting in Johnston sends one to hospital
JOHNSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – Johnston police are investigating a shooting that happened on Atwood Avenue early Sunday morning.
Chief Joseph Razza said the victim was involved in an altercation with several people, before being shot in the leg.
Razza said the victim has not been cooperative with the initial investigation.
The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. As of Sunday evening, the victim was in surgery and his condition is unknown at this time.
“We don’t believe this to have been random and there is no threat to the general public,” Chief Razza told ABC6.
The Johnston Police Department is investigating the incident.
