Shooting outside Providence nightclub leaves one in critical condition

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Providence police are investigating a shooting outside of Wonderland Gentleman’s Club Friday night.

Cmdr. Thomas Verdi said officers responded to the Allens Avenue club just before midnight for a report of shots fired. Security staff told police an altercation between two groups broke out, and they were kicked out of the establishment.

Both groups separated and went opposite ways. Shortly after, a dark colored SUV was seen approaching the remaining group.

Police said that’s when a person was seen leaving the vehicle and shot at the group, hitting a 30-year-old Providence man multiple times.

The shooter then got back in the vehicle and fed the scene down Allens Avenue.

Police said one person in the group grabbed keys from the valet box outside of the club, grabbed the victim and placed him inside of a gray BMW.

The victim was dropped off at the emergency room and the person who dropped him off fled, leaving the BMW.

The Board of Licenses held an emergency hearing Saturday morning where they put a 72-hour closure in place for Wonderland Gentleman’s Club.

Police said the victim’s injuries are life threatening injuries. He’s currently in critical condition.
