Small Business Administration approves request for aid to Block Island

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Gov. Dan McKee said Monday that a disaster declaration from the U.S. Small Business Administration was approved for businesses and residents of Block Island impacted by the fire at the Harborside Inn.

“The fire at the Harborside Inn was devastating for Block Island residents and business owners,” said McKee. “But thanks to the efforts of the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency and the U.S. Small Business Administration, help is available for those who have been impacted.”

What’s left of the Harborside Inn is set to be demolished starting the week of Sept. 11.
