Smithfield, El Segundo to faceoff in win-or-go-home play

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — The Smithfield Little League will continue their journey in the World Series in Pennsylvania on Tuesday.

The “boys of summer” will go against El Segundo, California.

Both teams have lost one game so far, so it’s win-or-go-home at 7 p.m.

Smithfield bounced back from their 8-1 loss with a big 7-2 win on Sunday in front of a packed crowed back home at The Trap North.

California lost 3-1 to Texas on Monday, sending them into the elimination bracket.

The boys from Rhody hope to keep the magic going — as winning with their backs against the wall has become the norm this summer.
