Smithfield Police arrest man on Breaking and Entering charges

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) – A Providence man was arrested and charged in connection with a Breaking and Entering incident that took place in Smithfield.

John Ford, 53, of Providence, was arrested after Smithfield Police received a report that Ford allegedly broke into a home on Farnum Pike on February 17th.

Police said Ford broke into the home and stole several electronic devices.

Smithfield Detectives collaborated with Providence Police to apprehend Ford, after detectives observed him in the area of Kennedy Plaza in Providence.

Ford was taken into custody Thursday morning and was transported to the Smithfield Police Department for processing.

Ford was arraigned in Kent County District Court in Warwick, where he was ordered held without bail.

Ford will return to court for a pre-trial conference May 23rd.
