Smithfield police investigate multiple vehicle break ins

SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — The Smithfield Police Department said that it is investigating several vehicle break ins that occurred Wednesday morning.

The department said that it received reports of several thefts from break-ins of unlocked cars as well as the theft of a vehicle.

“Residents should lock their vehicles at all times, even if their vehicles are parked in the safety of its own driveway,” the department said in a social media post.

The post also advised residents to keep never leave valuables in vehicles and to keep the outside of their homes well-lit.
