SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WLNE) — A 30-year-old Johnston man was arrested for selling a variety of edible items containing marijuana compounds, Smithfield Police announced on Wednesday.

Michael Brickey, the owner of Glassco Smoke Shop, located on Cedar Swamp Rd, was offering and selling edible items containing the chemical compounds THC and CBD, found in marijuana.

Smithfield Police said an extensive investigation was underway, and an undercover police officer purchased numerous edible items during that time.

On Tuesday, officials executed a court-ordered search warrant, where oils, powders, and other edibles including gummy candy, lollipops, and popcorn were seized from the Smoke shop.

Because THC and CBD are considered schedule 1 narcotics, Brickey was charged with the following:

  • Three counts delivery of a controlled substance to an undercover police officer.
  • One count possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

It was noted Brickey also had an outstanding warrant out of Pawtucket, also for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
