Smoky Providence Fire Closes South Main Street

A well-known Providence restaurant is shut down after a smoky fire Thursday morning.

Fire crews responded to the Parkside Rotisserie and Bar on South Main Street after a fire broke outside the building. The kitchen of the restaurant suffered heavy damage, before the fire moved to the second floor.

One firefighter was hurt during the incident, and one person inside the restaurant suffered burns.

Fire officials extinguished the fire within two hours. Repeated renovations to the building made it difficult for crews to navigate the building.

A section of South Main Street was closed while crews worked at the scene, but was re-opened shortly before noon.
