CRANSTON, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles will close some of its branch offices on Thursday, Dec. 17 due to the significant winter storm.

The Middletown, Wakefield and Woonsocket offices will be closed on Thursday and all road tests scheduled are canceled.

As of this evening, December 16, the DMV expects to open its Cranston headquarters from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Services will remain by appointment only. Walk-ins are still prohibited.

A release from the DMV says they strongly urge customers with appointments already booked for tomorrow to consider rescheduling for a different day.

Anyone with an appointment scheduled for tomorrow at one of the three closed locations, may visit that DMV office next week to complete their transactions without making a new appointment.

Customers will need to show their current reservation confirmation to enter the DMV office.

Anyone unable to visit their DMV office next week is encouraged to reschedule their appointment on the DMV’s website.
