Son accused of stabbing father in North Providence now faces murder charge

NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The North Providence man who was stabbed Monday has died from his injuries.

Police said Steven Kerzner, 65, was stabbed in the throat by his son, 36-year-old Dayne Kerzner.

Dayne was arraigned on felony assault charges. However, police said his charges have now been upgraded to murder.

The 36-year-old was issued a no contact order and held without bail. He will be in court again on April 19.
