South Kingstown PD looking for plow thieves

SOUTH KINGSTOWN – Bob Masse is frustrated. The general manager at Paul Masse Buick GMC in South Kingstown may have caught two thieves on camera, stealing two plows off his lot… but he hasn't seen his merchandise since.

“This is something that's disgusting,” he said. “It's a 10 thousand dollar loss.”

Ahead of the upcoming snow the dealership has had to call in extra plows not only to clear its own lot, but also to provide for people in the community who may need one.

“They need a plow, and it's always in a pinch, something's happened they need it or the plow is down or something happened with their truck, it's something they need right away,” said Masse.

One of the strangest parts of this incident is how gutsy the thieves seem to have been.

“They committed the first theft at 10:30 pm on January 26th, they responded back about two hours later… and stole the 2nd plow. In both instances the same vehicle was used to steal the plows,” said Sgt. Alfred Bucco of the South Kingstown Police.

That's why police are looking for information on the truck pictured in this story, with a large yellow sander in the bed. It's a white Ford F250 or F350, regular cab, long bed, with a commercial grade sander.

Since the theft Masse isn't taking any risks.

“We've pulled all the plows inside, we have, we've also pulled any of our customers' plows inside,” Masse said.

Police suggest making more identifying marks on your plows that can't be removed to deter thieves.
