House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello said Tuesday that the PawSox remain focused on trying to get a stadium built in Providence.

A spokesperson for the speaker confirmed a meeting with between Mattiello and PawSox co-owner Larry Lucchino Tuesday, in which he told the speaker that Providence is still the teams number one choice.

Luccino also told Mattiello that they will not be listening to any offers from other cities.

Speaker Mattiello says he is now focused on creating a counter-proposal to make the stadium deal happen.

A stadium deal came into question after principal owner Jim Skeffington, who was the driving force behind a Providence stadium, died of a heart attack while jogging on Sunday.
