Massachusetts State Police have released the name of a woman killed in a multiple car crash on Rt. 495 in Middleboro Friday.

Officials said shortly after 4 p.m., 57-year-old Anita Stevens, of Brockton, was traveling on the ramp on Route 44 to Route 495 Northbound when she lost control of her GMC Envoy, spun out of control, and collided head-on with a Cadillac traveling in the opposite direction.

That then caused a chain reaction of two other collisions.

According to troopers, Stevens was transported to Morton Hospital in Taunton when she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Cadillac was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with serious injuries. Officials have not provided an update on his condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
