State Police Arrest 7 suspects connected to Providence shootings

PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – The Rhode Island State Police (RISP) High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) arrested seven people in connection with two shooting incidents in Providence.

The arrests stem from a long-term investigation.

The first shooting happened on May 20, around 1:10 a.m. at Club Seven on Spruce Street.

Two people were shot and suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The second Providence shooting was on Sunday around 9:50 p.m. in the area of the El Patio Night Club on Public Street.

Jean Garrido, 29, of Providence, sustained a gunshot wound to his back.

He was admitted to Rhode Island Hospital in stable condition and is among those charged.

Maj. Timothy G. Sanzi, , said multiple gunshots were fired at both shootings and each incident allegedly resulted from internal conflict among rival gangs.

All of the suspects except Jean Garrido (not pictured) were processed at RISP Headquarters and held overnight pending formal arraignment.

Jean Garrido will face formal arraignment on a future date.

State Police say this investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

For the shooting that occurred on June 16:

  • Conspiracy to commit assault with a dangerous weapon
  • Assault with a dangerous weapon
  • Using a firearm while committing a crime of violence
  • Possession of a pistol without a license
  • Possession of a firearm after a conviction for a crime of violence

Tatiana Flores, 25, of Providence (TOP MIDDLE)

For the shooting that occurred on May 20:

  • Conspiracy to commit assault with a dangerous weapon
  • Two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon 
  • Two counts of discharge of firearm resulting In injury
  • Possession of a pistol without a license

For the shooting that occurred on June 16:

  • Conspiracy to commit assault with a dangerous weapon
  • Assault with a dangerous weapon
  • Using a firearm while committing a crime of violence
  • Possession of a pistol without a license

Anthony Florian, 26, of Warwick (TOP RIGHT)

  • Possession of a pistol without a license
  • Conspiracy to commit assault with a dangerous weapon
  • Assault with a dangerous weapon
  • Using a firearm while committing a crime of violence
  • Firing in a compact area
  • Eluding police
  • Possession of a firearm after committing a crime of violence

Keven Restrepo, 28, of Cranston (BOTTOM RIGHT)
