State Police arrest woman for DUI with children in the car

LINCOLN, R.I. (WLNE) – The Rhode Island State Police arrested a woman for driving with a blood alcohol content three times the legal limit, and with children in the car.

Just before 11 p.m. last night, Annique Harushimana, 24, was pulled over on Route 146 in Lincoln after police received multiple reports of an erratic driver.

According to police, she did not have her headlights on at the time.

Harushimana was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs – Child Passenger Under the Age of 13.

Two young children were in the vehicle, and were released into the custody of their father.  DCYF is currently investigating.

Additionally, the Rhode Island State Police have charged four motorists with suspected impaired driving in just a five-hour period Friday night, August 28.

The Rhode Island State Police urge anyone who sees a suspected impaired driver to call 911.
