State Police arrest wrong-way driver on DUI charges

COVENTRY, R.I. (WLNE) – A Coventry woman was arrested early Thursday morning on DUI charges after driving the wrong way on I-95.
Rhode Island State Police received a 911 call around 4:50 a.m. Thursday reporting a wrong-way driver traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-95 near the Route 4 split in Warwick.
State Troopers stopped the vehicle and took the driver, identified as 26-year-old Nancy Alger of Coventry, into custody.
Alger faces the following charges:
- Driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs, blood-alcohol content unknown (first offense)
- Refusal to submit to a chemical test (second offense)
- Reckless driving
Alger was held overnight at RISP Wickford Barracks and arraigned Thursday in Third Division District Court.
She was released on $3000 Personal recognizance and is due back for a bail review hearing on March 4th.
