East Providence man dies after accident involving motorcycle on I-95

PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) – An East Providence man died in the hospital following an accident involving a motorcycle on I-95 South on Friday morning.

At approximately 6:20, troopers from the Lincoln Barracks, with Providence Fire and Rescue, responded to the crash.

An investigation revealed that the motorcycle, operated by 56-year-old Scott M. Vickers, of East Providence, was traveling at a high rate of speed.

Police say at a point before the Thurber’s Avenue overpass,  Vickers lost control of the motorcycle and veered left.

He consequently struck the jersey barrier located in the center median where he was thrown from the vehicle with serious injuries.

He was transported to Rhode Island hospital where he died a short time after.
