UPDATED: Lincoln Woods Body Identified

UPDATE: LINCOLN, R.I. (AP) – Rhode Island state police have identified the man they said was found fatally shot “execution style” and bound inside the trunk of a car on Wednesday.

Authorities said on Thursday the victim is 25-year-old Ronny Almonte. He had addresses in Providence and Pawtucket.

Police say Almonte was shot several times in the face, and had his hands bound behind his back with some type of clothing.

Capt. James Demers says Almonte was using the car his body was found in, but that the vehicle is registered to someone else. The car was parked in a driveway about 200 yards outside the Twin River entrance to Lincoln Woods State Park. A park caretaker called authorities after noticing the car hadn't been moved. Police found blood on the back bumper.

No arrests have been made.

Rhode Island State Police are investigating after a body is found in the trunk of a car at Lincoln Woods State Park on Wednesday.

Police were called after someone reported an empty car in the park with the windshield wipers running.

When police got close enough, they spotted blood on and near the vehicle.

Police pried the trunk open, and found one victim inside, killed execution-style.

The park was closed as authorities worked the scene. The car has since been towed away, and the park re-opened.
