State police investigating reported truck robbery on Canton highway

CANTON, Mass. (WLNE) — Massachusetts State Police said they are investigating an apparent robbery of goods from a box truck Monday morning.

Officials said the alleged robbery occurred on Route 93 south in Canton.

Police said their preliminary investigation revealed that the freighter truck operated by a New Jersey man, was in heavy traffic when two suspects exited a nearby car and opened the back of the truck.

Authorities reported the two people took multiple boxes reportedly containing smartphones. The suspects then reentered their car and fled southbound.

The driver of the truck was not injured, police said.

The circumstances of the alleged robbery are currently under investigation by state police detectives and patrols.
