State Police seize 19 pounds of marijuana, 94 plants

State Police have arrested two individuals from Charlestown on drug charges after discovering 19 pounds of marijuana and 94 mature marijuana plants crowing a Hopkinton property.

A tip was called into police that a “skunky smell” was coming from a home that nobody lived in. The property was a rental on Paige Place in Hopkinton. The State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force (HIDTA) investigated the property and discovered it was rented to 48-year-old Darren Higgs.

The State Police then went to Higgs' Charlestown resident and found it equip with a sophisticated grow operation.

Police seized marijuana plants, packages, and over $3,800 in cash.

Higgs and 36-year-old Jacqueline Pastore were arrested on five drug charges and arraigned in district court. A bail review is set for March 12.
