State rolls out Restore R.I. grant program expected to aid thousands of small businesses

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – Small businesses in Rhode Island that have been hit hard by the pandemic can now expect more help to rebuild in the coming months.

On Monday, the Restore R.I. Grant Program launched. The program will provide 50-million-dollars to local businesses to aid in their recovery efforts.

Tuesday morning, R.I. Commerce reported that 600 businesses have already completed the first step of the two-part application process. The state expects to see thousands mores applications in the coming days.

Matthew Sheaff, Dir. Communications for R.I. Commerce said, “We believe that thousands and thousands of business will be able to apply and get approved for grants for this program.”

The grant program allows businesses to apply for up to 15 thousand dollars in assistance. Additional details about the program and other resources for businesses in Rhode Island can be found on the R.I. Commerce website.
