PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Tuesday marks the last day on the job as Rhode Island Commerce Secretary for Stefan Pryor.

Pryor was named Commerce Secretary in 2015 under former Gov. Gina Raimondo, and stayed on under Gov. Dan McKee.

“I am told that, after seven and a half years in this position, I am one of the longest serving top economic development officials in Rhode Island history (if not the longest), which is humbling and reinforces my gratitude,” said Pryor, in his resignation letter Friday.

Pryor announced in May that he was leaving the position to run for state treasurer. At McKee’s request, Pryor stayed to work on the proposed Tidewater Landing project in Pawtucket.

There has been no word yet on who will replace him.
