FREETOWN, MASS (WLNE) – Stop & Shop is encouraging New England residents not to stockpile essentials, as the distribution center has plenty of goods.

According to Stop & Shop, the Freetown distribution center that temporarily stores dry and fresh goods, and ships them 240 stores across Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Eastern Connecticut.

The warehouse experienced a hiccup as the demand for supplies doubled in such a short time.

Stop & Shop told ABC6 they are catching up and hundreds of thousands of supplies are shipped across New England every day, including toilet paper.

“Don’t panic. There will be replenishments in those stores so they can supply the house with basic needs every day. If they need to go back out the next day the store will be open and well have those basic needs,” said Jim Labrecque, Vice President of Distribution Operations.

Stop & Shops admits there are issues with items such as hand sanitizer, but they are on a national allocation list to restock.
