Stop & Shop recalls Tastee Apple Inc. Caramel Apples

By Stephanie Vargas

Tastee Apple Inc. recalls their caramel apples, and Stop and Shop takes them down, due to an allergen not listed on the label Saturday.

Tastee Apple Inc.’s Tastee Caramel Apples have been recalled for possibly containing peanuts in them. Stop and Shop supermarkets have voluntarily taken them off their shelves.

Stop and Shop is asking customers who have purchased, the Tastee Caramel Apple, 3 oz., UPC 3526600027 with a best by date of 9/29/15, to throw it away and bring their receipt to the store for a refund.

Officials say they are still safe to be eaten by people who don’t suffer from peanut allergies.

No illnesses have been reported. Anyone with a peanut allergy could suffer from a life-threatening allergic reaction.

Allergic reactions can occur as soon as a few minutes to two hours after eating the product.

Anyone with concerns can call Tastee Apples Inc. at 1-800-262-7753, the Stop and Shop’s customer service line at 1-800-767-7772 or access the Stop and Shop website.
