Storm Winding Down

A WINTER STORM WARNING (6-10″+) has been allowed to expire for most areas south and southeast of Providence, but remains in effect until 10pm for the Cape/Islands. Road conditions will be hazardous thru this evening. Take it slow.

Snow totals today ranged from 3 to 6 inches in the Providence area (6.3″ at the airport), to 1-3″ northward to the MA border, to 6 to 10 inches for areas south and east of the capital city. Expect snow to taper off as we head thru this evening, although additional accumulation is possible on the Cape/Islands.

Forecast: Tonight we see clearing and frigid conditions with lows in the single digits. Friday will be sunny but cold with highs in the mid 20s. Saturday stays sunny but chilly with highs near 30. By Sunday we start to see temperatures warming a bit, upper 30s expected with partly sunny conditions. Next week will be the warmest week we’ve had since the middle of January.
