Cranston Man Arrested For Weekend Hit and Run
Cranston Police have made an arrest in connection with a hit and run accident which left a motorcyclist seriously injured.
Saturday night, police were called to a hit and run accident on Oaklawn Avenue involving a motorcyclist and a green SUV that left the scene after the accident.
The motorcyclist, a 45 year-old man from Johnston, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses to the accident were able to give police a good description of the vehicle that fled, including the license plate off the vehicle. Cranston officers responded to the address associated with that registration, and found the SUV parked in the driveway, with heavy front-end damage, consistent with that happened in the accident.
Police confronted the driver of the SUV, who said he was driving the car, but was unaware he'd hit anyone. Police arrested and charged Daniel Cloke, 34, with leaving the scene of the accident, and DUI, which a breathalyzer confirmed.
Cloke was brought before a bail commissioner Sunday morning, and bail was set at $2,000 with surety. Cloke is due back in court on July 25th.
