PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A representative for protesters at the Occupy Providence encampment say they have no immediate plans to move from Burnside Park, despite city officials' expectations for a deadline.
Michael McCarthy, an Occupy Providence spokesman, tells the Providence Journal that they are "staying indefinitely" in the park, where more than 100 tents have been
erected since last week.
Providence Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare has said he expected to hear from the group by the end Sunday so the city can decide what action it will take to disband the camp.
Occupy Providence participants say they have launched a petition drive seeking 10,000 signatures from people supporting their quest to remain at the park.
