New Bedford Police Officer charged with indecent assault
By News Staff email@example.com A New Bedford Police Officer pleaded not guilty Friday in Superior Court on indecent assault charges. 58-year-old Jean Gomes, who is with the K-9 Unit, is accused of indecent assault and battery on a 10-year-old girl. The officer has been released on $2,500 cash bail and is ordered no contact with the victim. He will be back in Fall River Superior Court for a pre-trial conference on February 25th. © WLNE-TV 2015

NEW BEDFORD, M.A. – A retired New Bedford police officer has been sentenced to ten-years and a day in jail for inappropriately touching a 10-year-old girl.
Jean Gomes pleaded not guilty in Superior Court on indecent assault charges but was eventually found guilty of one count of indecent assault and battery on a child under the age of 14-years-old.
Gomes retired from the New Bedford Police Department in January 15 after being indicted for the crime.
