EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (WLNE) – Police are searching for a suspect following a bank robbery Wednesday afternoon in East Greenwich.

East Greenwich Police responded to the Bank of RI located at 1269 South County Trail for reports of a bank robbery just before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers on scene learned that a suspect entered the bank and demanded money from the tellers before leaving with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police say no note was passed to the bank teller, and the suspect did show or use any firearms, nor did they make any threats.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5’7” to 5’10” tall, wearing a two-toned hooded sweatshirt over jeans and dark sneakers. The suspect hid his face with dark sunglasses and some sort of facial covering.

Police said the suspect fled the scene on foot, heading west on Division Road.

East Greenwich, North Kingstown, Warwick and West Warwick Police Departments, along with State Police K9 Units searched the area, to no avail.
