Providence man sentenced to State Prison on drug charges

PLYMOUTH, Mass (WLNE) – A Providence man has been sentenced to State Prison in Massachusetts on drug trafficking charges.
Michael Chen, 41, of Providence, was convicted Thursday on one charge of Trafficking Marijuana Over 100 Pounds/Less than 2000 Pounds in Plymouth Superior Court.
On December 27th 2017, Wareham Police arrested Chen after discovering he had been receiving crates packed with marijuana, shipped to the Cape Cod Express shipping company from an address in California.
After seizing the crates, Wareham Police located 112 vacuum sealed bricks of marijuana, totaling 109 pounds.
Chen was convicted following a three-day trial and several hours of jury deliberation.
Judge Cornelius Moriarty sentenced Chen to serve two to 2½ years in State Prison.
