PROVIDENCE, R.I (WLNE) - An arrest has been made following the stabbing of a homeless woman last month.

Providence police say Connor Noll, a 22-year old who attends Johnson and Wales University, stabbed a 59-year old homeless woman while she slept.

Surveillance footage of the incident places Noll at the scene. Noll turned himself in to authorities after his friends saw the footage on TV.

He had a steak knife in his possession at the time.

The woman suffered serious injuries and required surgery.

Johnson and Wales stated that "in accordance with the student code of conduct, he has been placed on interim suspension", and they are currently working with Providence police.

Noll is due in court this afternoon where he will be facing assault charges.
