Providence, R.I. - Coming off a record-setting season, the Brown University men’s basketball team will host a first round post-season game on Wednesday evening, March 20, at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
“I’m excited that our men’s basketball team will have the opportunity to take part in March Madness and participate in the postseason after a successful season,” said Brown Director of Athletics Jack Hayes. “While we can’t announce the tournament or the opponent at this time, we’re thrilled for our student-athletes and fans to be hosting a first round post-season matchup at the Pizzitola Sports Center.”
Mike Martin, in his seventh season at the helm, was named the Ivy League’s Coach of the Year after guiding Brown to one of its most successful seasons in recent history as the Bears matched its program record, set in 2008, for wins in a season with an overall record of 19-11. The Bears paced the league in scoring defense, holding opponents to 68.2 points per game, as well as three-point field goal percentage (.297).
This year’s Brown team featured senior captain Obi Okolie (Ajax, Ontario), a Second Team All-Ivy selection and the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, Second Team All-Ivy selection sophomore Tamenang Choh (Lowell, MA), who led the league in rebounding, and sophomore Desmond Cambridge (Nashville, TN), the Bears top scorer and league’s top shot blocker.
