FALL RIVER, Mass. (WLNE) – A well-known diner in Fall River has officially reopened under new ownership.

Al Mac’s Diner on Presidents Avenue officially re-opened at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The diner was sold in March to father and son Cliff Ponte and Cliff Ponte Junior just days after going up on the market.

The Pontes said they understand the importance Al Mac’s has had to the people of Fall River for over a century, and hope they can continue to carry on the legacy.

“We understand that something like this has been famous since 1910,” said Ponte. “You know and we want to build a legacy here. We want everybody to be happy, we want people to come back, and we want to be a staple of breakfast in this community for many years to come."

A grand re-opening celebration is expected sometime in June.
