Hasbro Children's Hospital worker arrested on child pornography charges

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) – A pediatric health professional at Hasbro Children’s Hospital has been arrested on child pornography charges, State Police announced Wednesday.
David Lavoie, 52, of Johnston, was arrested Wednesday after an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigation discovered he was in possession of child pornography.
Lavoie has been employed as a pediatric sleep technologist at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence for the past seven years.
State Police said there is no indication at this time that Lavoie engaged in any inappropriate behavior with children at the hospital.
Lavoie was arraigned at Kent County District Court Wednesday on the following charges:
- Possession of Child Pornography
- Transfer of Child Pornography
"Hasbro Children’s Hospital is deeply concerned by the charges brought against one of our employees," a Lifespan spokesperson told ABC6. "Upon notification of the incident, the employee was immediately put on unpaid leave pending the outcome of the State Police investigation. Hasbro Children’s Hospital is cooperating with the State Police investigation."
