Brown University Press Release

Providence, R.I. - Brown’s 2019-20 men’s basketball schedule has been announced by head coach Mike Martin with the Bears facing a daunting road schedule that features Duke and St. John’s, along with a challenging home schedule that includes Rhode Island and all seven Ivy League institutions.

"We believe this year's non-conference schedule will help prepare us for another very competitive Ivy League slate,” said Martin.   “There are exciting games throughout the schedule.  In-state foe Bryant on November 5th is a great challenge to begin the year.  Having the University of Rhode Island back at the Pizzitola Sports Center and playing in New York against St. John's are both great opportunities for our program, and, of course, going to Durham to compete against Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium is going to be a thrill for all of our student-athletes."

A December 28 match-up against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, NC is the highlight of the Bears’ six game non-league road schedule.  The Bears and Blue Devils will be meeting for the fifth time, dating back to the 1938-39 season. Brown opens its season on the road against Bryant on November 5, with additional road match-ups against Sacred Heart (November 19), UMass Lowell (November 26), Stony Brook (December 7) and St. John’s (December 10).

Brown opens its seven-game non-league home schedule on November 9 against Canisius at the Pizzitola Sports Center, followed by home games against Quinnipiac (November 13), NJIT (November 23), Navy (November 30) and Merrimack (December 4). The Rhode Island Rams come to Providence on January 2 in the 161stmatch-up between the two Ocean State schools. Johnson & Wales (January 7) rounds out the non-league home schedule.

The Bears’ open their Ivy League season at defending Ivy Champion Yale on January 17, with the Bulldogs coming to the Pizzitola Sports Center the following week (January 24). Brown will host Ivy League weekends against Cornell and Columbia (January 31 & February 1), Dartmouth and Harvard (February 7 & 8) and Princeton and Penn (February 28 & 29).

Coach Mike Martin’s squad will be on the road for additional Ivy League games against Penn and Princeton (February 14 & 15), Columbia and Cornell (February 21 & 22) and will conclude its regular season at Harvard and Dartmouth (March 6 & 7).

The four-team Ivy league Tournament will be held the weekend of March 14-15 at Harvard.
