SOMERSET, MASS (WLNE) - After a water main break that occurred on Saturday, a boil water advisory that was put in place is now expected to be lifted by Tuesday.
The Somerset Water Department said "please boil your water before drinking and other consumption uses like cooking, hand washing, brushing teeth, etc."
The town said the water can still be used for things like cleaning, washing, bathing and irrigation.
Officials say that the notice is not state mandated or as a result of bad test results, but a proactive and in concern for the safety of their customers.
Crews are collecting water samples Sunday and Monday.
Should the results confirm the water is safe, the advisory is expected to be lifted Tuesday,
The Department thanks the residents for their patience.
