Man Struck and Killed by Train in Middleborough

MIDDLEBOROUGH, MASS (WLNE) - A man was struck and killed after he walked onto the tracks and was hit by a Middleborough/Lakeville Line Commuter Rail train, police say.
Middleborough Police and Fire were called and notified by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) at 10:55 a.m, that a Boston bound train had struck an adult male.
First responders arrived on the scene and began an investigation.
At this time, the identity of the man is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
Police say a total of 47 passengers was on board the train at the time. They were transported back to the Middleboro/Lakeville station.
The department says inbound service on the Middleborough/Lakeville line remains suspended Sunday afternoon.
