WESTERLY, R.I (WLNE) -  After 40 years, Water Wizz of Westerly, R.I will permanently close its doors on Monday.

Water Wizz announced on Facebook on August 7th, that they will not be opening for the 2020 season due to an aging infrastructure and an ever-increasing cost to operate the seasonal business.

The post also mentioned that the park is still recovering from a significant financial impact left by Superstorm Sandy.

Water Wizz proudly talked about how it maintained a small-town feel, and was an integral part of the beach community, during the busy tourist season, serving as a great destination to escape the heat.

Ken Rider of Water Wizz addressed the patrons of Water Wizz: "There have been quite a few twists and turns over the years, and many of you have been part of the journey. The Water Wizz family is humbled and grateful for your patronage. If you have a chance, stop by and get those last slides in before Labor Day, and share your Water Wizz memories with us"
